Senior SQA Engineer

Job Description

The position requires testing in a fast-paced, time sensitive project and the applicant must have the ability to quickly switch from one task to another and follow the work plan to meet project milestones. The job requires excellent working knowledge of the testing methodologies and the quality processes, and the applicant will be responsible for developing and executing test plans using technical requirements and design specifications as input, analyzing test results, performing data validation, tracking defects and providing regular status. The job requires someone who is highly skilled in using different techniques while performing testing tasks related to database, backend processes and front-end applications. The applicant must also have the ability to mentor team members.

Manage the release of software with system releases including preparation of release notes.

Produce software quality metrics and communication effectively with the development teams

Required Skills

Establish methodologies, standards and procedures for requirements analysis, test plan preparation, test procedure development and execution, documentation of results and reporting.

Conceptual knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC)

Ability to lead teams and/or projects within QA

The individual should be self-motivated and result-oriented with a technical aptitude. Must have strong organization skills with attention to details.

Must be a team player with excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Good organizational skills and discipline are required.

Good interpersonal skills are required to interface with Landis+Gyr staff, vendors, and customers.

A logical, deductive person is necessary for this position. Troubleshooting skills and independent functioning will be advantageous to successful development and testing.

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant Engineering field. Must have a minimum of 5+ years experience with Software Testing web, GUI, database and Client/Server applications on multiple platforms.

Must possess 5+ years experience with SQL Server or Oracle

Must possess 5+ years experience with testing .Net appplications

Must possess 5+ years experience with testing UI/Web Applications

Experience using automation products (Clearcase, ClearQuest, RequisitePro, Robot Framework)

Energy & Utilities industry knowledge a plus.

Network, RF and hardware device knowledge a plus.

An understanding of Web technologies, including architecture, server configuration, HTML, XML and web protocols.

Ability to guide, train and mentor junior team members
