Core Points
Deliver nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, in accordance to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols practical in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, with reference to confirm the quality and stability of care for the targeted populace.
Responsibilities
Presence and participation at work:
· Accomplish all activity in line with the MSF protocols and actions.

· Patient’s treatment with care and value providing good quality care.
· Patient privacy must be valued and strictly respect community culture, norms.
· Maintenance of decent relationship with other team members.
· Adhere to MSF Clinical Guidelines and proprieties
1. Requisites of basic hygiene rules
· maintaining hygiene within Inpatient Department including ICU will be her responsibility.
· Use of MSF protocols for hand washing and use of gloves.
· Use of the delousing protocol for dressings and invasive medical procedures.
· Waste administration and change of safety box as needed.
· Remark of the over-all hygiene of the hospital setting and cooperation with the cleaners.
· Instruction about particular hygiene to patients during hospitalization and at discharge.
2. Nursing maintenance
2.1 IPD
For all the admitted patients, the nurse:
· Delivers nursing care to parturient and their babies, including babies under NBU treatment in IPD.
· Ticks off and counter-signs treatments given to patients in their files.
· Joins in the medical round and let the doctors informed about progress of each patient.
· Arranges ordered investigations and as well as encircled the results accordingly.
· Provides appropriate diet to patients accordingly medical prescription.
· Monitors patients’ vital parameters, intake and output, and records them on the observation sheets.
· Maintains a hygienic atmosphere for patients in IPD as well as collaborates with the relatives or the cleaners to help the patients look after their personal hygiene.
· have to sets up procedure for septic isolation and instructs patients and relatives about the necessary protections.
· must be care to mothers in breastfeeding, kangaroo mother care, new-born care, etc.
· maintains skills in neonatal resuscitation.
Take note to the patient’s complaints and informs the doctors accordingly.
· Grips skills in adult resuscitation.
· Passes IV lines, collects samples for laboratory tests, prepares and injects medication and infusions.
· Passes and monitors gastric tubes, nasal prongs, or oxygen masks.
· Attends patients on transfers to other structures or for investigations.
· Systematizes the identifications and files for all patients known and records the status of patients.
· Maintenances staff in the delivery room in case of emergency of new-born after delivery.
2.2 Post-operative/High dependence caution:
For all patients under her concern, the nurse:
· Delivers nursing care: vital limitations, oxygen therapy, IV fluids, nasogastric tube, gastric lavage, etc.
· Registers the patient’s info in the registration book and make sure of the diagnosis from the Gynaecologist and Anaesthetist.
· Cleanses and arranges the emergency trolleys and medical equipment as appropriate.
· Continuously patients’ monitoring, communicating immediately anaesthetis/gynaecologist in case of emergency.
· Must maintain the record of action during the shift and of any change in recommendations for patients.
