In the maternity department the Medical Doctor carries out hospital admissions

Must be responsible for medical care’s quality at Inpatient Department of MSF Women Hospital.

Requisites

Active attendance and participation at work:

• Follow to MSF Clinical Guidelines and protocols.

KEY ACCOUNTIBILITIES

Admissions in Hospital and Maternity Department:

• Resounding the patients’ admissions in accordance with the MSF receipt criteria and re-orientating the patients out of standards.

• Carrying out described consultations about patients following MSF clinical protocols and remarking observations on register.

• Taking brief history of the complicated patients

• carrying out complicated procedures, assisting operations, managing serious patients under supervision of national gynecologist or expat gynecologist:

• Provide information about patient health condition, clarifying the treatments required and verifying that patients have understood.

• ensuring the transfer of the patient to department by knowing the status of every department

• Working in close collaboration with all other departments,

• Notifying gynecologist/surgeon or midwife about patients’ transfer within WH.

• in case of emergency Contacting gynecologist/surgeon or midwife for consultation without delay

• Regarding MSF Guidelines and Protocols for prescription of investigations and treatment if obligatory.

• Good handovers to the coming shifts and very clear documentation and treatment.

Satisfying by fill up the visibly diagnosis and treatment on the Hospitalization card, and compelling the consent from the attendant’s after well explanation of the documents and essential for the consent.

Confirming the maintenance of the Emergency Room and emergency equipment inside.

1. Inpatient Department (Maternity, IPD, incl. ICU and Postnatal Ward)

• Remarking the daily round in the Inpatient Department in linked up with gynecologist/surgeon, midwife and anesthetist.

• Remarking rounds including hand-over (including doctor of present shift and doctor of upcoming shift).

• Independent checking on critical patients under post-op care (during day- and nightshifts) must be on regular basis.

• Observing all the hospitalized patients.

• Recommending the care and treatments required accordingly to MSF guidelines and clinical protocols and

• Confirming the correct application of prescriptions.

• Ensuring the rational use of medicines and right application and dosage according to MSF protocols.

• Telling the patients about their illness with explanation of their treatment.

Must be up to date all the hospitalization forms up by noting the details of examinations, entry and exit diagnosis and following the specialist consultations.

• Preparation of discharge and referral documentations

• Confirming the proper handover to incoming colleagues about all the patients.

• Updating the direct supervisor in event of medical error.

• Collaboration with NBU team.

1. New-born Care:

• Must complete new-born charge on each baby delivered in Women Hospital prior to discharge.

• Identifies abnormalities and/or deteriorating condition and notifies NBU medical officer on duty.

• Be present and joins in new-born resuscitation.
